Letter demanding allotment of beds for railway employees in Corona

DHAKA: Railway General Hospital Kamalapur, Dhaka and Railway Hospital Chittagong have sent a letter to the Department of Health to keep the 15-bed railway corona-affected employees in abeyance.


This information was given in the press release sent by the Ministry of Railways on Wednesday (June 24).

It is said that Bangladesh Railway has started operating the next passenger train after Covid-19 lockdown from May 31. Many employees of Bangladesh Railway are directly involved in the operation of passenger trains. As a result, they have to go in the company of every passenger. In the meantime, several employees of Bangladesh Railway have contracted corona.

‘Employees affected by corona have to face various difficulties to be admitted to different hospitals. In most cases, various public and private hospital authorities expressed inability to provide them treatment. Many of these employees are receiving treatment from home. This puts other family members at risk, leading to fear and reluctance among employees.

In this situation, it is especially necessary for the railway employees to have proper medical system of Covid-19 to run the train smoothly. To this end, the Railway General Hospital, Kamalapur, Dhaka and Railway Hospital, Chittagong have been specially requested to take necessary steps to ensure that at least 15 beds are kept in favor of the corona affected employees.
